The artwork is a representation of Mahuika the fire goddess, grandmother of Maui and the deity who gifted fire to humanity. Most of the whakairo (carving ) has been airbrushed but the pakati type design which depicts her fingernails has been hand painted with gold ink. Before being painted the guitar received several coats of Tung oil and left to dry, airbrushed then given 3 water-based clearcoats and hand polished. The fretboard has a beautiful grain, supposedly rosewood but not sure it is.
Guitar has been serviced by a technician and strung with 10 gauge strings.
Designs are original and aren't replicated.
